શ્રી સુરેશ દલાલ ને શ્રધ્ધાંજલી!
ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યના ટોચ સાહિત્યકારો પૈકીના એક સુરેશ દલાલ ૮૦ વર્ષની વયે મુંબઇ ખાતેના કફ પરેડના નિવાસ સ્થાને અવસાન પામ્યા છે. તેમના નિધનના કારણે ગુજરાત સાહિત્યને ન પુરાય તેવી ખોટ પડી છે. કવિતાના માધ્યમથી કૃષ્ણની આરાધના કરનાર સુરેશ દલાલે જન્માષ્ટમીના કૃષ્ણ જન્મના દિવસે જ પરમધામની વાટ પકડી છે.

એક ડોસી ડોસાને હજી વ્હાલ કરે છે.
ડોસો જાગે ત્યારે ચશ્માં આપે
અને બ્રશ ઉપર પેસ્ટને લગાડે,
લોકોનું કહેવું છે કે ડોસી આમ કરી
ડોસાને શાને બગાડે ?
મસાલા ચા અને ગરમ ગરમ નાસ્તો
ડોસી ડોસાનો કેવો ખ્યાલ કરે છે?
નિયમ પ્રમાણે દવા આપે છે રોજ
અને રાખે છે ઝીણું ઝીણું ધ્યાન,
બન્નેનો સંબંધ તો એવો રહ્યો છે
જાણે તલવાર અને મ્યાન.
દરમ્યાનમાં બન્ને જણ મૂંગાં મૂંગાં
એકમેકને એવાં તો ન્યાલ કરે છે
કાનમાં આપે એ એવાં ઈન્જેકશન
કે સિગરેટ શરાબ હવે છોડો,
ડોસો તો પોતાના તાનમાં જીવે
કયારેક વહેલો આવે કે ક્યારેક મોડો.
બન્નેની વચ્ચે વહે આછું સંગીત
પણ બહારથી ધાંધલધમાલ કરે છે.
ડોસો વાંચે અને ડોસીને મોતિયો
બન્ને જણ વચ્ચે આવો છે પ્રેમ,
લડે છે,ઝગડે છે,હસે છે, રડે છે,
જીવન તો જળની જેમ વહેતું જાય એમ.
દોસ્ત જેવી દીકરીની હાજરીમાં બન્ને જણ
ઘરની દિવાલને ગુલાલ કરે છે.
બધાઈ હો બધાઈ, સ્નિગ્ધા !

ભારતીય મૂળની ૧૪ વર્ષીય અમેરિકન નાગરિક સ્નિગ્ધા નંદીપતિએ પ્રતિષ્ઠિત સ્પેલિંગ બી સ્પર્ધામાં વિજય મેળવ્યો છે. સતત પાંચમી વખત આ એવોર્ડ ભારતીય મૂળના અમેરિકન નાગરિકે મેળવ્યો છે. સેન ડિયાગોનિવાસી સ્નિગ્ધાએ સ્પર્ધાનાં અંતિમ સ્ટેજમાં વેસ્ટ મેલબોર્નનિવાસી ભારતીય મૂળની જ ૧૪ વર્ષીય સ્તુતિ મિશ્રાને હરાવી આ એવોર્ડ જીતી લીધો હતો. સ્તુતિ મિશ્રા આ સ્પર્ધામાં બીજા ક્રમે અને અરવિંદ મહંકલી ત્રીજા ક્રમે રહ્યો હતો.

This year’s champion receives a $30,000 cash prize from Scripps, an engraved trophy and more than $10,000 in other prizes and scholarships.
She won the National Spelling Bee with the word, ‘cymotrichous.’ The word is an adjective which means having wavy hair.

धर्म को प्रतिगामी एवं अन्धविश्वासी कहना आज का फैशन हैं | तथाकथित बुद्धिवादी प्रगतिशीलता के जोश में धर्म को अफीम की गोली कहते और उसे प्रगति का अवरोध ठहराते पाये जाते हैं, पर ये बचकानी प्रवृत्ति मात्र हैं |
गंभीर चिंतन से इसी निष्कर्ष पर पहुचना पड़ता हैं की मनुष्य के अंतराल में आदर्शवादी आस्था बनाये रहना और निति-मर्यादा का पालन करना धर्मधारणा के सहारे ही संभव हो सकता हैं | भौतिक लाभों को प्रधानता देकर चलने और सदाचरण के अनुबंधों को तोड़ देने से उपलब्ध सम्पदाएँ दुष्प्रवृत्तियों को ही बढ़ायेंगी और अंततः विनाश का कारण बनेंगी |

The concept of religion is practical
To call religion / faith regressive, retrograde, backwards and superstition is in vogue today. Our so called intellectuals in the excitement of being liberal and radical, look at religion akin to getting high and see it as a hindrance to progress, this tenancy is quite childish and immature. After analyzing the concept carefully, we come to this conclusion that for a person to be continuously inspired (to progress towards an ideal), while maintaining her/his ethics, discharging her/his duties responsibly and fulfilling her/his obligations, is possible only because of faith. Giving significance to materialistic goals while crossing the boundaries of decency will always result in the increase of evil and malice which will ultimately lead to destruction.

“Bharat Ratna” Pandit Bhimsen Joshi passes away
“Bharat Ratna” Pandit Bhimsen Joshi was a rare genius who could transcend the mundane and transport his audience to the sublime with his gifted voice that captured both anguish and ecstasy passes away at the age of 88.
He was born into a Kannada Brahmin family in Gadag, Karnataka. His father, Gururaj Joshi, was a school teacher and Pandit Bhimsen Joshi was the eldest of 16 siblings. He was mostly raised by his step-mother, as his own mother passed away when he was very young.
What made him arguably the most popular Hindustani music vocalist of the current times was his impassioned renditions with a powerful and penetrating voice that showcased the aesthetic majesty of the ‘Kirana’ gharana of which he was the celebrated exponent, as also the eloquent expression of light classical, devotional and the popular variety.
The ‘Bharat Ratna”, the highest award of the land, bestowed on him in 2008 was nothing but a tribute paid by a grateful nation to a genius called Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, whose melodious exploration of Hindustani classical music enriched lives of a multitude of connoisseurs as well as the common man who doted upon the artistic grandeur of his colossal voice.

શ્રી સરદાર વલ્લભભાઈ પટેલ, ભારતના લોહપુરૂષની જન્મજયંતિ આજે છે. તા.31/10/1875માં તેમનો જન્મ કરમસદમાં થયો હતો. સ્વતંત્રતા પછી 600 દેશી રજવાડામાં વહેંચાયેલા ભારતને એક બનાવી દેવામાં તેમનો સૌથી મોટો ફાળો છે.
